When our oldest child was 5 years old, we sat for our first professional family portrait outdoors at the Skokie Lagoons. We were so thrilled with the result that we decided then and there to repeat the experience every 5 years. Both of our children are now married with children of their own and we are still updating images of our growing, changing family.
Although there were many years when the expense was a luxury, we were always glad those portrait sittings had been our priority. Once the opportunity is missed, those ages can never again be captured on film. That sentiment is only magnified regarding the generational portraits that also included grandparents, some of whom are no longer with us.
Our family room has become a gallery of our children ( and of us) at every major stage of their lives. Those portraits are our most treasured “original art”. Whenever visitors enter our home for the first time, their comments are never about the later-acquired paintings or sculptures, but are consistently about the chronological history of our family as seen through the camera lens of a creative photographer.
As always, at Pollack Photography, we’re Focused on You.
