The phone rings. The person on the other end asks two questions:
1) What is your pricing?
2) What is your availability?
And with the right answers, I have a new customer. But wait! What does she really know about me? She’s seen my website — which is a huge step in the right direction. And she’s seen my video — which is also very valuable. But getting the right photographer for your family is more than that.
It’s about a personality fit. It’s about a style fit. It’s about an approach fit. Yes, of course, the price has to fit as does the availability. But to get the pictures you want — those that fit your style — you really should ask more questions. Ask about his/her approach. As why she became a photographer. Ask what her ideal session looks like. Ask about process and timelines. Ask the questions that matter to you…. beyond pricing and availability. And, maybe you read about some of these things on her website. But hearing the answers first hand will give you a better gut feeling as to whether this is really the right fit for you.
Family pictures are an investment. An investment in time, money and energy. And they matter. Make sure you’re getting the right photographer.
As always, we at Pollack Photography are focused on you.
