There are many sayings about noticing the nuances in live. “It’s the little things that count.” “The devil is in the details.” And so on.
For me, one of the amazing things about being a photographer is that I feel that I’m more tuned into the details. I see things that I may have overlooked years ago.
And, the other day at Starbucks, that ability to notice the details paid out. A Walkman Sport was sitting on the table in front of me as I walked into the store. I immediately broke out my phone and photographed it, hoping that the owner either wouldn’t notice — or wouldn’t mind (it was completely unattended when I saw it). And sure enough, 30 seconds after the photo was captured, a man sat down and put his headphones on.
I so wonder what was on the cassette he was listening to.
